Fortified Wales

Oldest Castle        Chepstow, oldest surviving post Roman stone fortification in Britain (therefore Wales), began 1067.

Biggest Castle       Caerphilly (2nd largest in Britain). Also first concentric castle in Britain.

Longest inhabited Castle Penhow is said to be the oldest lived-in castle in Wales and has been continuously inhabited since it was built around 1129.
